A friend recently sent us this YouTube video of a 60 Minutes report on the US Financial crisis:

or link to it here

It is definitely worth watching and thinking about how we will be affected in Canada....

UQ at SFU report

Thank you for all who prayed for the Feb 4th's Ultimate Questions "Does God Exist? Debate at SFU. The debate was a great success with over 875 students attending filling 2 1/2 lectures halls.

The best part of the debate has been the spiritual conversations that it has sparked within the student body. Almost all of our students and some Christian Professor friends have commented on how easy it has been to talk about God and share the Gospel with their friends. That's what this was all about. So I am pleased encouraged.

We should have the full debate video on line within the next few weeks. Please continue to pray that the Christians on campus would continue to be bold in sharing their faith with their friends. pray that the god would be glorified through their testimonies and that many more students would come to know Jesus Christ.

For encouraging review of the debate please go to the following SFU student newspaper "The Peak" articles:

Ultimate Questions Update

for more information please visit the events page at: www.ultimatequestions.org

We (Campus for Christ) are also hosting a debate about the effects of Pornography at UBC on Jan 27. You can find more information on the Ultimatequestions.org website as well as at: www.porndebate.ca

We really appreciate your prayers for these two events. Our goal is not just to put on these large debates, but to engage our campuses in an intellectual and spiritual discussion on who God/Jesus Christ is and what true Christianity is really all about. Our hope and prayer is that through the hundreds of spiritual conversations that these events will spark, many students would have an opportunity to clearly hear and respond to the Gospel.

For mre specific prayer requests please visit our Campus for Christ prayer blog at: http://prayerchain.campusforchrist.org/

Thank you so much for your ongoing prayers, encouragement and partnership in taking the life changing message of the Gospel to university students across Canada.

God bless you!

Sincerely,

Gary & Lynda

November, 8th 2008

First of all, Thank you so much for all who have been praying for us and showing us so much encouragement in so many ways. We are are doing well and my physical healing is making good progress. I am excited to be back at work sharing God's love with University students at SFU and across Canada.

While I still cant talk to much about what happened on November 8th because of the ongoing police investigation (Not that we are suspects, I just don't want to say anything I shouldn't and jeopardize the investigation in any way) I thought I should at least post a few links to most accurate news stories. After reading all kinds of reports from various newspapers, news reports and blogs etc, there weren't any that got the story 100% right. But there are some that are more accurate than others. So here are links to the most accurate.

I will post more soon,

Psalm 91

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]

2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
